The Journalist is a New Zealand born startup aiming to democratise the online newspaper industry.

We believe there is a growing disconnect with what is published in today’s media against public opinion and this platform aims to change that.

The core purpose of The Journalist is to provide you with the power to speak up about what you are passionate about, even if it means upsetting a few people. Freedom of speech is one of the core foundations of a proper functioning society and everyone should have the power to share their ideas in a safe and democratic way.

Imagine putting YouTube, Reddit and a newspaper into a blender. The result? A crowd-sourced newspaper platform that not only lets anyone publish articles, but a platform that gives readers the power to decide what’s important, with the ultimate goal of paying the authors revenue generated from their content. Importantly, the content is ranked entirely based on reader votes ensuring the best content is displayed first and is available to a much wider audience.
